Beltronics STI owners

I bought this radar when I 1st bought my G. I researched and it was either the STI or V1. I chose the STI for its extra features and stealth. Although the V1 has its arrows, when I see KA band go off I brake regardless with or with out arrows... Im thinkin of hardwiring my radar unit 2morrow but I wanna know if anyone has done it with the STI. I dont know much about hardwiring so any help/pics would be great. Any imput/ideas/extras or comments about thie RD is appreciated

Do you have a homelink mirror in your car?

Homelink Mirror

Homelink Mirror - Back

If you do have the homelink mirror, then you can easily hardwire your Beltronics STI by getting these 2 items:

[1] Mike's mount (~$20) >> PM mike3348 with the year of your car + the diameter of shaft

[2] Invisicord (~$15.25) >> you can order it from here for the 8" cable ($15) + G35Upgrade ($0.25)

Final result will be like this

The invisicord cable attaches to the back of the Homelink RJ11 connection.

Hope that help. Good Luck!

You are welcome.

Make sure you mention the year of your car when you PM mike.

Question... I got the above figured out.
My RD comes with a direct wire smart plug. How would I get this in the cigarette ash tray?

I hardwired my V1 and just used the V1's power module to power my STi. Living in VA, I didn't want to install the direct wire kit from Bel because those led's are bright as hell at night and when you get an alert the flashing red light can be seen clear as day, even down by the ashtray. I even have 30% tint. I do have my V1 remote display in the ashtray with a custom plastic surround. The V1's remote display is nice because it autodims. I sure as hell wish Valentine would hurry up with the stealth issue. I would love to switch back to it.

You would hard wire that to the fuse panel.

One goes to the cig lighter fuse in the fuse panel (Radio shack has tabs for attaching to the fuse blade) and the other goes to a solid ground. I grounded mine under on the left side well under the plastic cover. There is ametal plate so I simply loosened her up, put teh connector under and tightened down!

As for mounting, I bought extra heavy duty velcro from Radio Shack (Same as the EZ PASS velcro) and put that on my windshield in the factory blue tint area. You can't see it from the outside or if a cop were to look down in the car, he couldn't see it either!

i don't have the car anymore (it was totaled) but just go to any circuit city and they will install it for you. just show them where your going to mount the radar and where you want to mount the remote. i held it in place with velcro.

tell them you want it to run off the ignition so that way you it will turn on and off automatically every time you start you car and turn off your car.
