where did you install you GPS Device?

Hi, I have the New Magellan Maestro 4040 (4.3'' screen) and I would like to find a way to make it almost OEM look alike. But i want to keep the option that I can remove it easily. I don't like very much the fact that you stick it on the dash. And I have the bluethoot option so that mean I need to be able to touch screen easily.

The best place is the center console (top bin) but I don't want to scrap the factory top to make something custom and not good looking.

My question is, Does someone have pictures or Idea of something I can make to install the gps and make it more like a original equipment.

Thanks.

I had my Maestro 3100 mounted with double sided tape to the underside of the center console top bin lid. It fit very well, and didn't interfere with opening/closing the lid. And there was still room for the cord to be stored under the unit in the bin, with the lid closed. Worked very well, other than muting the sound a bit from the speaker, since it was now partially covered by tape. I used some removable 3M double sided tape, as I didn't want it to permanently affect the lid. But in the heat here in Florida, the tape didn't hold up well, and the unit kept falling off. If I can find a source for a replacement lid, I think I will make a bracket to screw teh GPS to the lid. UNtil then, when I use it, it is window mounted to the right of the rear view mirror.

I think the upper bin is the only clean place to put it.

I also use that velcro to attach other things like my cell phone so I can see calls come in even if I have my music turned up and use my bluetooth earpiece to pick-up calls / dial.

That looks nice like that. Seems like the best place without a lot of work.

Do you get good signal with the antenna that low? Just wondering, I just got the Nuvi 660 and I like your install.

The velcro doesn't interfere with the satellite pickup and accuracy?

I have the Magellan 4250, ordered an extra bracket and power cord from magellangps.com, and some of the extra sticky velco from home depot, and mounted in the dash cubby like above. however the velcro tape does separate in the heat... some extra gorilla glue has fixed that. Now I can move it easily and quickly to my other car.
