Question on SAT button,,,
Hey guys i have a quick question, i have 03 G no Navi, does the SAT button mean the G is sat radio ready? can i install like the unit (sirius/Xm ) and intergrated and just turn on sat radio by pressing the button? dealer wants 700 bucks to install this, i was like you are nutz, for that amount of money i want a full car detail, navi installed and brand new system LOL...suggestions pls
With the SAT button, you are sat. capable, but not necessarily sat ready yet. Some cars are not prewired with the sat cable and it is VIN dependent.
For 2003, the VIN rages are as follows, (these go by the last 6 digits of your VIN):
Sedan VIN: 321894 & higher
Coupe VIN: 210827 & higher
All 2004 and later cars are pre-wired from the factory.
It's pretty easy to install a factory sat tuner if the cable is prewired. It terminates in the trunk and is easy to get to. It's a little more expense and work if you have to buy the cable for $57 and remove the radio to connect it to the back of the radio.
