Good Valentine 1 mounting location?

First... I have used the search button on the forum and the only location I can find is mikes mount on the mirror itself. I don't like this location at all so; is there anyone who has an alternative spot to this that meets these 3 requirements? Please post pics. Thanks in advance.

1. Concealed from outside view

2. Concealed wiring

3. Uninterrupted line of sight for F & R protection

Note: I have the remote display too, so I don't have to be able to see the main unit directly.

On my last car I just used a visor mount and some foam to mount the detector flush with the headliner above the rearview mirror. The G35 seems to have little to no room above the mirror, plus there is the sunglass holder in the way. So aside from just sticking it on the passenger visor I can't think of anything good.

that's not very descriptive. Have you got any pics? Can you still lower both driver and passenger visors without sacrificing protection? Did you use a visor mount, is it on the windshield, or something else?

rearview mirror to the left of it and parallel with the bottom of the mirror, if you use your visor alot then mount it under the mirror as close as you can to the bottom

ok so it's on the windshield? I am trying to avoid that so in the event that I do get pulled over my V1 isn't hanging there for Officer bob to say nice radar detector, my instant on laser is better though eh.

Thanks though

ANYONE ELSE?

Yes but I want a cleaner install than on the window though. Most people who rode in my last car didn't know I HAD a detector til it went off, and even then with the remote display I had to show them usually. Here's my STI install. Note the shiny thing above the mirror on the right.

i stuck mine on the drivers visor left corner, i took the wire and stuck it between the visor the roof of the car (i never use my visor, sunglasses look better) then ii shoved the wire under the left trim adjacent to the wind sheild, going all the way down, to the bottom then made a diagonal run to the base of the steering wheel stuffed it in that trim then plugged it in the drivers cigarette lighter...

Only a few inches of wire are exposed

No more pics but I can tell you that the detector was mounted onto a valentine 1 sun-visor mount backwards. The visor mount clip was then inserted up above the headliner.

The foam you see was used to keep the detector parallel to the ground, thus achieving perfect line of sight front and rear.

The main power box (splitter) is hardwired to the car near the fuse box, and mounted onto some random metal plate with double sided 3M tape.( I forget which wires I tapped), and the phone cables (V1 and remote display) are ran from there.

One 2 ft wire ran up and under the steering column, and popped out right where the remote display was mounted between the tach, and speedo. It was mounted with the provided velcro pieces.

One six ft wire was ran up to the L corner of the dash, up the a-pillar(yes you have to remove it to conceal wire), and across the headliner; where it too popped out right where the main detector was mounted.

In total about 3-5 inches of wire at most was exposed. The wire was black and not noticeable at all.

For muting/volume control the detector was easily in reach, while the concealed display was also in plain sight for easy threat identification.

Wish I had more pics, but this was my third car install and I lost interest in the details by then.

why dont u cut a whole in the sunglasses mounting and fabricate something unique to hold it there. That sounds like it might be a good place.
