What indash DD unit do people use?? It seems like everyone uses the pioneers, are they the only ones that fit? And if we use a pioneer, can we get any of their indash navigation units? or does it have to be a specific one??? Just curious to see if people have used OTHER units than Pioneer and recommend it over the pioneers. Cheers.

 

Any DD will fit, DIN is a size.

The most common are the Pioneer AVIC series which most have Nav. You can also use Alpine, Eclipse, etc. I have had a couple of the Eclipse units and like them a lot.

 

If you have an 03, or an 04 (I know for sure) you have to get a DD kit, it gives you climate controls since the OEM are on the same mother board as the headunit. I have Pioneer, but others will fit, jsut need a DD kit

 

Some suggestions with a purpose:

Alpine W205: Great sound, touch screen, medium resolution, b200 blackbird docking option for navigation, awesome sound paired with the H701.

Pioneer AVIC series: Great all in one package, long list of goodies when using the car diagnostics functions with the sensors, poor sound quality in comparison with the Alpine, touch screen, medium resolution.

Kenwood DDX series: Probably the most expensive of the bunch, but best screen resolution, optional nav that is best in class, great sound quality out of the box.
