Hey guys. I've decided to get a double-din for my G coupe. I am wondering however, what to put in that space?! I really want to do something on the lines of a touch screen, but i'm not really knowledgable on what manufacturers are the best. I found a really cool head unit made by Kenwood... but i've heard that Kenwood has some reliability problems. Also, i would like to use both of the spaces if possible to make it look a little cleaner. I was thinking maybe putting a 6.5 or 7" monitor in the double din then put a dvd/cd player in the space above our glove compartment, then stickinga 6 disc magazine or something somewhere. Also i'd like to be able to hook my iPod up to it. Well, i hope you guys can provide some help.

how much are you willing to spend?? Eclipse, Pioneer, Clarion,?? I have Clarion925VRD touchscreen on my 2001 Maxima, never had problems for two years and i'm about to install Pioneer 6.5 AVD-W6210 screen on G35, no double din for me though... IMO, I like Clarion and Pioneer, plus Eclipse ish too expensive...

I agree. Eclipse is very good but super expensive. Some people really like the Pioneer and Alpine units. I have heard about some technical issues with the Clarion decks and that's why they not as popular locally as 5 years ago.

 

The clarions are garbage..IMO..but if you want a cheap dvd/sirius.fm/am/nav capable touchscreen for cheap you can buy the Clarion VRX935VD off ebay for like $900..but i wouldnt recommend them...if your willing to dish out the money than the new Alpine models and Kenwood KVT-915DVD's are going to be bad assssssss!! and they come with 2 year manufacturer warranties I believe...even though you wont need them!..But I realize that everyone has a budget..as do I..but I splurge on things I really want...Alpine will also be offering really cool items this year in terms of in dash tv/dvd/nav/xm/radio models with pulse-touch touch screens and what not....When you press the "button" on the screen it actually feels like your pushing a button.pretty neat IMO....i dont have the model numbers on those but they will be out soon...might want to check the newest press releases on the alpine website..Hope this helps.

Eclipse HU rock.I have the 8443. I did Focal, PK2's for the front and Focal Polyglass Slim's for the rear. (6 1/2"). Chunked the 6 x 9 because I was using a sub and these will be a perfect vent hole now to free up some of the air from the rear. (I had purchased a set of the Focal 6 x 9 PolyGlass if anyone is interested). I did a JL sub; 12" W6V2 with a JL 450/4 and 500/1. Audio Control EQ. I did use 2 Hooker, 1 Farad caps. Everything was of course dynomated. The only sad time is when you stop by the shop and you see half the inside of your car laying on a dusty floor. Believe me.. your heart will stop for a moment. Looked like the inside of a Funny Car last week, all gutted out. I will post pic's soon.
