Idea on how to Disable NAV Startup Screen

I just ordered my coupe on Monday, but I have been following the forum for a while and thought of something last night.....

I saw a thread a while back about someone using a time delay relay (with like a 2-3 second delay) to give an electrical pulse on the VDC switch to "automatically" turn off VDC when their car was started.

I was wondering, could a similar relay setup be designed to trigger the "ok button" on the navi to accept the disclaimer?... or are the navi buttons impossible to mod because they're on a circuit board?

Again I don't have my coupe yet so I have no idea, but I was wondering if anybody looked into something like this? it seems like a bunch of people are annoyed by having to do this every time they start the car.

Should work, theres nothing special about the navi buttons, but your gonna have to take a soldering iron to a part that may cost $1000 to replace if you make a mistake.

Has anyone actually taken the NAV unit apart? I personally don't have the ***** [yet] to remove it from my car and disassemble it! The circuit itself would be extremely easy to make, but installation would be very dificult.

Re: Idea on how to Disable NAV Startup Screen

Personally I have no skills whatsoever with this type of stuff... I just started the thread because from reading the forum for a long time it seemed like everyone wanted to get rid of the startup screen so I thought maybe this would be a way to do it...

I was hoping someone smarter than me with circuits, etc. (read: engineers) might have something to say about it.

When I started the thread I think I was forgetting that the buttons for the navi are probably soldered directly onto a circuit board (like the A/C controls) and not free floating switches like the VDC one.

I would be willing to take apart my navi just to see how everything is connected, to see if such a mod is even worth thinking about. But... I'm not getting my coupe till the first week of June.

The warning screen used to bother me, but now I hit the button without thinking as soon as the screen appears. However, I'll probably do the mod that lets you program the nav while the car is moving. You can find instructions at this link.

Re: Idea on how to Disable NAV Startup Screen

I agree, it's become part of starting my car so I'm "programmed" to do it as well. Personally I think this link is better.....(don't know why, hehe)

I got the idea from that other link but took some pics for the mechanically challenged and those that are scared to rip apart the dash of their 40k car.
