either post where you live or go to a regional forum and look for suggestions.
Do plenty of research on the forums. Print out anything useful for the tech.
That's what I did. I printed out lots of write-ups on the install and provided him with every part.
Brought all the parts over and the write-ups and asked if he could do it.
The guy looked over it and I came back two days later and he did his homework and said he could do it.
He did a clean install and it was done in a day at a price tag of $600.
Just make sure the tech knows his stuff and has plenty of experience and a good reputation.

I am going to have to disagree with every one. All my installs are done at circuitcity. I guess it depends on installer to installer, but the guy i know who works at circuitcity has worked on EVOs, STI's, my G, a few other Gs, Lotuses, etc.
Now what happens when they screw up your install, believe it or not, they have a huge insurance policy, and even if there is a small scratch on the dash that was made by them, they will get you a whole new dash if needed.
so can some one give me a link where they had bad installs in best buy or circuitcity?

" But for every 1 that can do this type of install at Best Buy or Circuit City, you'll find 20 that cant.

True. Ive worked at best buy on and off for 4yrs, they hire installers based on if they need installers to fill a spot. Meaning, no experience needed, sign here take a test to become certified at a best buy facility and now you are a true mecp cert. installer.
Ive seen some great installers at best buy also, the best tech i know used to work at best buy, now he is an engineer for some huge company.
Ask basic questions to any installer, and find people in your area and ask for recommendation's etc.

here's a test for your installer at BB or CC.....
1. ask them if they can do an aftermarket HU install on an Infiniti G35.
if they say "sure...we can...."
2. ask them how many actual installs they have done on the G35
"ah....several installs...."
Here are the true test questions....
3. ask them "Do I need any adapter(s) or special parts for that install & if so, DO YOU HAVE THOSE PARTS IN STOCK?"
If they quickly answer that they will need a DD dash trim, JDM v35 AC controller, Nissan wire harness, Nissan antenna adapter, and LOCs if you plan on keeping the stock Bose amp.....then they know their stuff....well! They most certainly will not stock DD dash trim pieces and definately AC controllers ($295) at BB or CC and will tell you that you will need to order these parts from yosi/grubbs/japanparts.com/riverside infiniti.
4. Ask them "how long do you think it will take to install an aftermarket HU?
"ahhh....4 hours...." maybe if they know what they're doing....lol
5. Will I able to retain my Dual Climate Control on my AC?
"ah....what is Dual Climate control?" "ah...sure you will" "Hey Charlie...guy wants to know about something about a Dual Climate Control.....do that Pioneer HU come with that feature?????"
try that test at BB or CC next time you're there irregardless of whether you are looking at car stuff or just buying a copy of Wedding Crashers or a Bose SoundDock for your Ipod!
Hope this helps....

Doc....you are so right about that one. I worked at BB part-time (for the discount, of course) and you have a bunch of kids who all get trained the same way. Very few of these guys know anything about our double-din aftermarket setup. I recently went to two different BB to see about an install for my speaker upgrade. The first being the one I worked at and they said they could do these simple upgrades. Of course, there's a charge for everything. The second one I went to said it would be about a $300 install for the fronts, rears, and sub/amp install. No friggin way. I've done installs on every one of my vehicles and I can say I could use that money somewhere else. I figured I would skip the trouble but nope!
