illumination help with DD Kenwood 8019

So, I'm 50% installed with my 8019. The HU is in, and I have sound and Satellite working. I am waiting for the iPod cable plus the Bluetooth accessory. Pretty much, all is good.

I do have one issue. My HU doesn't dimm. I hooked the orange illumination wire from the Nissas harness to the Orange/White on the Kenwood harness. Any suggestions?

After this, I'll tackle the SWI-jack.

Thanks.

On my 7017, there is a menu selection where you can choose for the HU to auto dim or not. It may be set to manual.

Thanks Gilley. That doesn't seem to work either. Any other thoughts?

Only to make sure it's the right wire and check it with a multimeter.

If you notice, the orange wire of the "factory harness" you bought does not connect to anything on the other side. This was bugging me for a long time to and someone else helped me out. In order to get the dim function to work, you actually have to connect the orange-white wire from your headunit to a different wire on a different harness entirely. I will try to find it and post it here for you. But yeah, I know that is your problem.

Ok, so it is the Red wire with a blue stripe that you need to look for. It is located on one of the other harnesses. I am not positive which one it is, but there is only only red/blue wire on the 4 harness connections, so just look for it. Attach your illumination wire from your radio to that one and you should get the dimming function to work.

Hope that helps.

I took a closer look at the harnesses last night, and the red wire with the blue strip is in the same harness that connects to my Nissan harness. From there, the Nissan harness has an orange wire that says illumination. This is the wire that I already have hooked to my kenwood orange wire which also says illumination.

Does anyone know the voltage(s) that should come from the illumination wire on the car? I couldn't get any voltage readings from the red wire with the blue strip.

Thanks
