Why do FX's set my V1 off when we pass?

In my town a few people have an Infiniti FX and when I pass them my V1 goes off! Everytime when I pass them in head on traffic. It does not beep it will siren off. Does this have anything to do with the FX's cruise control?

Pretty sure it's the ICC (intelligent cruise control), QXs and some of the new S600s set mine off.

Really? I have a S600 at work and it has that cool cruise control system. Never really thought what band that would be on, thought it would've been laser. The nightvision thing on those is cool.

The FX's and QX's with the laser controlled cruise will set mine off. Some of the newer LED taillights set my laser off as well when I'm behind them at a stoplight.

If it is Laser that you are getting on the V1 then it is most likely the other cars ICC setting it off. There was a QX in my neighborhood that used to set my V1 off every time I drove by.

It might be your Escort 8500. It may be sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Set it in 'voltage display' mode and see if the voltage changes (though I'm not sure how accurate or how quick the refresh is).

I have sort of the same thing with my 8500 on my Yamaha R6, anytime revs go over about 12,000 the thing alerts laser. I finally just turned of laser detection, the way it is mounted won't allow it to pick up laser signals anyway. Not exactly sure why, mine is most likely interference due to being so close to the engine control module and ignition coils.

If the engine is on, the lasers are on, they don't actually have to set the cruise control.

I read in Car and Driver that the laser in the ICC in the Infiniti's are "on" even when you are not using the ICC. So in theory, if you have the tech package with the ICC in your car, you can set off your own radar detector when the laser signal bounces back to your own car after reflecting it off a car in front of you.

Does anyone with ICC and with a radar detector experience that problem -- setting off your radar detector b/c of the laser in your Infiniti's ICC?

I want to buy a V1 or a 9500i, but would be annoyed as hell if my own car is setting off my radar detector!

If it's a real issue, if the ICC you could is laser based, you could cover the transmitter of the ICC section if that feature is unimportant to you, or if it is, turn off the laser detection on your Valentine.
