Question satellite radio Q

I'm asking this after searching for an answer with little luck. I'd like to add satellite radio to my 04 coupe, but don't wanna pay $200 for the factory kit. My question is....can I buy a cheaper receiver and hook it up to the attachment in the trunk and still have it work? I wouldn't mind if I couldn't control it from the steering wheel. Can any auxillary device be plugged into the trunk and be used with the factory system? Is there just a wiring harness set I can use instead of the whole kit?
thank you

No. Only the factory tuner will plug into the harness in the trunk. You could use one of the PAC NIS models with RCA inputs, but the HU wouldn't control anything but the volume.

You can look into buying a used one. I've seen a few people selling them on the boards.
