Welcome to the club! It's a common problem, actually. Clarion's rules regarding replacing these units will infuriate you, as well. They don't allow the dealerships to stock the units, yours has to fail, then they order one.. that takes a week if they're not backordered. Then they do the swap and ship the busted unit back to Clarion, who extract your CD's and mail them back to the dealership -- that takes a couple more weeks.

I've had this done 3 times, and am on my fourth unit. The first one went belly up 3 weeks after I bought the car, the units were backordered so it took about 3 weeks for one to come in, then there was some other delay and it was about a month after that before I got my CD's back. The 2nd two change outs went a bit smoother. My current changer has lasted longer than the first 3 combined, so here's hoping....

Is this an 03 problem only? Cuz didn't they add like a faster type changer for the 04? Did that fix the problem or is it for all of us .. >.<

Welcome my friend mines went bust back in November and between all my hit and runs I have yet to find the time to stop by the dealership so they can "check my VIN".

Good luck. I am finally going to get mine ordered tomorrow morning.

The '04 changer is supposed to be "improved" -- they claim it's faster. I haven't heard one way or the other if it fixes this little problem. I do know that they won't put an '04 head unit in an '03 car.
