Avic-d3

I'm thinking of purchasing an AVIC-D3 unit. The cost of the unit is well within my budget but I wanted to hear from the forum their thoughts based on my wants:
* Bluetooth compatability for phone
* Ipod Interface
* Navigation
* OEM Steering Wheel Controls

I have little interest in watching dvds. I want more functionality than what I currently have in my 03 Coupe. I have a DD kit with climate control coming to me so I'm wondering if the AVIC-D3 is the best unit for the price based on my needs.

Thanks

I got the D3 installed a few month back and i think that this is the best bang for the buck out there. the navi is awesome and the bluetooth works better then the factory setup in my 06 coupe. check out avic411.com for all the info on this headunit.

Navi comes with the D3, it's not an option you have to pay extra for. But, it gets you where you need to go. Sometimes it's off a bit, but it's understandable. One time it had me exit the freeway and told me to back right back on. Whatever.

As for Bluetooth, I don't talk to anybody while I'm driving. I don't pick up if my phone calls because I love driving too much. Plus, I love my car too much to risk distracting myself and getting in an accident. So, I didn't get that. Didn't think it'd be worth it.

I got the PAC-SWI PS to maintain steering wheel controls. But, it kind of lags at times. I heard write-ups of fixing lag time to match response time of OEM controls, but I don't want to take apart my dash again.

As for iPod integration, that's a must IMO. If you listen to CD's and have to use the navigation, it can't do anything without the nav DVD in there. So you have to pop out your CD, pop in your DVD, set your route, let it store it to it's short term memory, and then you can stick your CD back in. With iPod integration, I keep my nav DVD in at all times.

On another note, I got the rear-view camera. Actually helped me one time. I almost back into a parking spot with ducklings there. Waited for the mom to move 'em.

Hope this helped.

Thanks for all the responses. I've seen online prices as low as $509 for D3's. The cost has come down dramatically in the past six months so this is the route I'll go. I got great info from the avic411.com site so thanks Rocket. Looks like Cartronixplus is sold out but I'll find one over the weekend and get it ordered. Thanks again everyone.

Pioneer is currently running a $200 rebate for the D3. Has to be purchased at an authorized dealer and it excludes places such as Best Buy, CC, Crutchfield... I might pick one up as well.

$501 for the D3 here. They're also an authorized retailer.

^ Good deal, I just ordered it. Thanks

So I have the following:

DD Finisher with Dual Climate Control
Avic D3
CD1200 Ipod Interface
CDBTB200 Bluetooth Adapter
PAC SWI-PS Steering Wheel Control Adapter

The D3 is replacing the OEM Bose HU. Do I need any Nissan wire harnesses to complete the install?

Does that cover it?

Thanks

You need the Nissan wire harness, Nissan antenna adapter, and an amp bypass for the Bose amp.

Yikes, beware of 86photovideo.com. If the price is too good to be true, it always calls for some research. I looked them up and they have horrendous ratings...http://www.resellerratings.com/store...et_Photo_Video

Rating .19 out of 10!!
