NAV-TV vs. AVElectronics

Sounds like the NAV-TV unit will do the same thing the AVElectronics unit does. Anyone used the NAV-TV unit yet? I think I can get the unit under $500.00.

Re: NAV-TV vs. AVElectronics

If you find that unit for less than $500 - than your either very lucky or its too good to be true. I am not sure on the install process though...

The AV Electronic unit offers the following:
3 Video inputs (as compared to max. of 2)
Full stereo TV tuner (compared to mono sound)
2 Video outputs (last I heard, they didnt offer this)
Switchable reverse-view camera (optional, as video input #3)
Plus other features as well...

But the best feature of the AV unit is the ability to allow the sound and video to continue to play, even when the navigation guidance is on the screen and voice. This is a great feature alone. This means you can have your navigation screen on guidance, while still hearing the sound of your movie or video source. If you have multiple screens, this means your passengers will not have an interupted movie, just because you need to see/hear your navi screen. You can flip back and fourth almost instantly and un-interrupted.

From what I know on the Nav-TV BMW and Range Rover kits - you are either watching video, or you use your navigation. Its a choice only... You cant do both. Plus, those kits brand new are literally close to $1300... The AV unit is a bargain when compared to others...

The new version also allows you to send different input signals to different output devices. Now you can have something different on the nav screen than you have on rear monitors. I wish mine did that.

Re: NAV-TV vs. AVElectronics

Good point. But its not really a new version, its just a different model altogether. The multi-monitor version does not have a built-in TV tuner, if that even matters to you.

Oh yeah, I was checking out some of the new kits I got this week for some customers - and AV has updated the pushbutton switch! No more ugly red toggle! Now its a nice looking black flip switch. It would match almost any vehicle interior now... I'm glad they did it.
