Radar or Jammer First?

Hey, I read alot about the difference of the radar detectors and jammers. I see most of you say alot of cops are using laser now. But what would you get first? A V1 or a Laser Jammer? If it matters I drive in PA, NJ, DE, and maryland.

I would go with either the V1 or passport. A friend of mine has both and he says they both work about the same. I have a passport 8500 x50 and its saved my *** on several occasions.

Thanks for the info, but I know all about both. I am set on the V1. I just want to know which first, jammer or V1(radar detector). Thanks for the comments.

Just go with the radar then! You can get into pretty big trouble if you're caught using the radar jammer and I think the detector will suffice fine considering it is a top of the line unit.

I go with the person that said "Cops are using laser now". Cause I got pulled over and had my brand new valentine one on everything and the thing didn't go off. Cop said he caught me on laser.

Really? I thought the jammers were legal, or atleast in PA. I will look into that.

First off, I'm assuming you're talking about laser jammers/shifters since a radar jammer is illegal for the most part. If you drive highways and travel from state to state, I'd get a radar detector first. A lot of areas outside of the city will be limited to radar to detect your speeds. Also, if you're using a radar detector to detect radar signals, you actually have a fighting chance of slowing down. With a laser jammer/shifter, if you're on a lonely highway and the cop is using radar, it's useless. Also, if a cop repeatedly tries to capture your speed using laser and it's not registering, especially on a stretch of highway, there's a good chance he'll decide to chase you down and give you a hard time.

What I have noticed are cops using radar to warn them of speeding oncoming cars. They then validate it using laser so on a busy highway with multiple cars, they can single you out and it will be upheld in court.

I went with Laser first because ATL uses laser. Plus, I don't speed on the inside road. However, I tend to cruise at 70mph @ 55mph limit on the interstates, and that's where they use laser a lot.

I am not sure if the comment above that says no jammer works is referring to radar jamming or laser? To jam a radar, you system as used in the Navy's EA-6B, and everyone around you will know you are jamming.

Now for Laser, I have had both the BEL RX75plus and Escort SRX. (Even had a SR7 with ZR3). All of these systems are basically the same, and the laser jamming works great. I have a friend in the Navy who is also a County Sheriff here in Key West. They did a laser class on US1 near NAS Boca Chica. I was messing with the students by sometimes leaving the "Shifter" on as I drove by, and then sometimes hitting mute twice (turns of the Laser Shifter). I was told that sometimes they could not get a lock on me.

It basically buys me a downshift, then I turn off the shifter. I have been hit more and more by Laser in the past few months. But the Florida Highway Patrol now has a KA set up that is very low energy. This BEL/Escort radar receiver is very good (as it sits in the front grill), normally I have plenty of lead time. But past weekend, twice I could see the FHP and was still only getting a Ka5 displayed (about half strength)

If I was a cop, I'd go back to X band, nobody reacts to a X warning. I have my X band turned off.

Yea, I am not looking for a jammer or radar detector becuase I speed(Becuase I do not). I want one so I do not get a 42 mph ticket in a 35. I am picky because I am 17 and my insurance would already be enough(A little too much for my thinking but worth it).
Thanks!
