Need help with GPS acquiring satellites

It seems my stock nav unit is having trouble acquiring satellites. I noticed it randomly one day, every once in a while the little satellite icon will turn green and i get a signal but it doesn't last long and 99% of the time I am driving around with no signal. I did a search but couldn't find any related posts about this problem. Any ideas?

maybe you're in a bad area.. i don't think it stays connected 100% of the time.. I think the nav calculates how fast you're going to move you.. sometimes i'm not even on the road on my screen and it takes a long time to readjust, so I think it only connects to the satellites every now and then

I'm in a fairly big city (Norfolk, VA) and have never had this problem before. You can tell how many satellites you're receiving by the little satellite icon in the upper left corner.

I ran the self diagnosis on it and it reset some things I guess so now it thinks I'm in California and probably won't put me back in VA until it picks up a satellite.

did you just upgrade your DVD Nav disc?
It might be the issue with the disc.

No, it has worked well for about a year. Nothing has been changed.
