Alpine PDX...What are they!
Hi All,
I need to upgrade my mono amp..its too small (350watts RMS) for 2X 10" DVC subs (400/800w)
so I hear about these alpine PDX sub amps and they push the same power through 2 or 4 ohms. So if it is a 600w amp is that the rms power? is there even rms and peak power with these amps?

They're a new line of amps,
Basically a full range class D amplifier (Thought I'd never hear those words in the same sentence). They are very efficient, meaning that they don't need to draw as much current as a comparable amplifier, and they run very cool in a small package. Bit on the expensive side right now, but if you've got the funds, they're a good buy. The circuitry is designed (and patented I believe) by Bang&Olufsen, and is already being used in high end home audio applications.
Bottom line, Expensive, but good.
Oh,and you'll start seeing less and less Peak power advertisement as most manufacturers start complying to the CEA standards...

Ya they really look nice!
I swaped my V-power for a PDX 4.100 for the components.
Now I am not sure if I need the 1.1000 or 1.600 to run the 2x10"?? (400rms each)
Also my box is 1/2 the volume it should be for these subs...will "inverse mounting" help at all as the sub magnet does not use any volume since it is now outside...any thought on that type of mounting?

You would need the 1.1000.
Half the recommended volume is a lot. Of course, your best option is to rebuild the box, but if that's not a possibility, reverse mounting + poly fill should help a bit, but you won't be getting full output from the subs, and you may be disapointed.
When it comes to Subs, cabinets are 75% of the experience

Ya, i would say you go with higher amps, in this case 1.1000 for the subs... it's better to overpowered it than underpowered it.
I dont think that giving 300 rms each to 400 rms subs would clip the subs but I dont see any min. recommended wattage so i wont make any assumption... but if you want to maximize ur subs, you would have to go at least 400 rms each anyway so better go with 1.1000

I have a PDX-1.1000 driving teo 10w6's in 4080 enclosures and it hits pretty good to me.
