So I just installed the invisicord for the V1 through the plug on my rear view mirror and noticed that then the power went off on my mirror. Is this supposed to happen? I was under the assumption that they would share power or something. I now have the problem of my garage door buttons not working anymore..

 

No it should not. I have the same setup and it works perfect. I would check again what colors you put in invisicord in, because when I first installed I placed them in the wrong places.

you plug them in the black and pink slot and the black slot right? I found them very hard to actually put them in to the mirror plug and they did not go in all the way, is there an easier way to push the invisicords in?

The slightest movement in the mirror and cable resets the power because the plugs are barely in, i have to really shove the black one in to get power and cant keep it powered, is there a better way?

 

I would try to move the probe on the other side of the wire or in the corner. The probe should require a little effort to push it in and it should have a snug fit.

 

Well i made my own invisicord out of a phone cable and the leads from an LED so i think it might be a little stronger as far as the contacts go or vice versa. But one piece of advice... Once you get the cables in snug, to where everything's working and it doesn't come out from bounce, electrical tape and/or black zip tie the invisicord to the mirror power cable and mirror support. You can effectively hide this so no one will see.

When it gets hot, the suction cups will release off the windshield and your detector will be hanging by the invisicord. If you provide a strain relief with the zip tie, all you have to do is remount the detector. If not, you run the risk of pulling out the leads and having to do the pain in the **** process of plugging it in again.

 

yea.. i figured out my problem was I didnt buy the g35 specific invisicord so now i have to exchange it, and I am gonna try out the mikes mount too so hopefully I dont have to deal with the suction cups anymore..

 

I have read that using inviscord or splicing the wire for the rear view mirror causes the v1 not work to its full potential. Is this true?

The mirror simply supplies the power for the detector, therefore there is no reason it would effect the performance of your radar detector.
