Sedan-Mounting Radar Detector on Mirror

Anyone found a slick way to do this?
Anyone know how to pop open the overhead lighting to get to a ign hot 12v?

Re: Sedan-Mounting Radar Detector on Mirror

There's a guy over on my350z.com that makes a plastic mounting bracket that clamps to the mirror. I believe we have the same Homelink mirrors as a Z. He sells them for about $20 bucks and makes them for the Passport 8500 and Valentine V1 but they might be able to be modified to use with other models. The thread below also has some details on hardwiring it directly to the mirror. I sent him a PM asking if they fit a G and if he can make them without the Z logo.

I bought one and have it installed so I can confirm it does fit the G (at least with the autodim/homelink rear mirror) and you can get it without the Z logo if you ask for it.

Re: Sedan-Mounting Radar Detector on Mirror

You can mount the Valentine 1 display unit in your rearview mirror, and put the main unit in a remote location.

Although this particular install gets top marks for the coolness factor, it also means that when it gives a warning, it's visible to someone directly behind you.

The other downside is that you have to replace the G's stock mirror, which I like for the Homelink tranceiver (garage door openers) and autodimmer.

Still, it's a nice clean install.
