L5's and L7's only come in a square configuration. Kicker also has the Comp and Comp VR's that are round, but I dont know much about Kicker.

Kickers have always been good to me in the past. They're big name brand, and I haven't had any junk from them ever. I had 2 s8cs and then 3 s10ds in my truck (the predecessor to the L series) and they BOOMed. I think kicker was one of the first companies to come out with the shallow mount subs too. (Comp VTs)

Image Dynamics IDMAX10 in a 4080 enclosure off two bridged channels of a Zapco Reference 1000.4.
Don't concern yourself with running the same brand of amp and sub. It makes absolutely no difference one way or the other. Plenty of misinformation in this thread.

i got a boss 1000 watt amp ~500watt rms and a JL 10W3 and it bumps.. but it keeps cutting out.. maybe a wiring problem, the store I bought it from and got it installed said bring it back tomorrow since I have no time today. Anyone know if this could be a compatibility problem?

What is the impedance of the sub? Maybe its wired too low and thats why your amp shuts off.

how do i check? will it be on the box for the sub? I'm at work right now so I could run and check in a little bit. It cuts out in the middle of songs and then comes back..

so I've figured out basically what my sub is doing. it's bumping really hard for a long time, and then suddenly it will cut down and not be loud, but still noticeable. I can see it vibrating if I look at it, but then it will kick back in and start vibrating really loudly. Anyone know if I can fix this (like a loose cable? cuz I don't have any electronic experience), so I don't have to drive 45 miles back to the shop?

did anyone remove their Bose subs from above the rear seats when they installed their sub? I'm wondering because if this is possible, I can slide my sub enclosure about 9 inches back towards the seats, which would provide me a LOT of extra room in my trunk.. anyways if it's possible let me know

This year Kicker makes a round L5 or L7... I forgot which one.

no the only thing rattling is the trunk from the loud bass lol.. it's just it seems like the amp pushes out a ton of power for a while, and then randomly will cut back and the sub wont be as loud as before, then it will suddenly get really loud again.. i can't tell if it's supposed to be the louder or the softer volume since it keeps changing

It sounds like you either need to upgrade your wiring kit, need to check your grounds, and check your fuses. I had the same problem as you with my old car.

well i got it done at a shop and they said they'd take a look and they have a lifetime warranty, so they'd fix it for free.. should I take it back there? I forget who it was but someone PMd me and said it could be teh quality of my songs on my cds since some are 256kbps and some are like 180-190 kbps.. anyone else know?
