Question Amp recommendation

i recently made the purchase of a 12w7 and jeez this thing is beefy, now im really stuck on picking an amp. originally i wanted to pick up the jl to match, but it really isn't necessary and not only that i know this thing can take some power and the whole amp terminology really confuses the heck out of me
if i were to run 1 sub i'd need a 1 channel right?
also what kinda wattage should i be lookin at specifically for the 12w7

i read on jls site that 750w is supposedly the sweet spot, but others tell me differently, any help would be appreciated.

JL 1000/1 on that bad boy!

I have tried tons of amps over the years and I'm very impressed with my 450/4 and 1000/1.

Look at the Apline PDX-1.1000. It's much smaller than the JL.

The monoblock amps will be a single mono channel.

How are you going to mount the w7 and the box?

You could run a mono amp or you could run a 2-channel amp and bridge the channels.

I'd recommend the Kicker ZX1500.1. It's always good to have more power than necessary, than to underpower the speakers and try to play them at a high level.

A mono amp is ideal.

The Alpine Type Rs are speakers. The PDX-1.1000 is a 1000 watt amp.

i was lookin at those, what makes them comparable to the likes of jl? after reading about that rips feature im pretty impressed as i thought all amps were the same chit different name.

also say i got a 1,000-1,500w sub my buddy has a 1000w powering 2 of his 12s and i only wish to power 1, but i also realize this sub isn't exactly small and probably needs a lil more than the average sub, considering jl said the sweet spot was like 750real watts i dont want to blow the thing. can you set the amount of wattage travelling to the sub?

i bought my sub to use it i love music and i want the overall best setup, or close to it, i've heard good things about kickers and good prices, but couldn't 1500watts to one 12w7 be too much, as in blowing it?
