2003 Coupe Audio upgrade

hey guys, i have an 03 coupe and im really tired of the crappy audio from connecting my ipod through the tape player as well as the bad audio from the bose system in general. i searched around the forums and all i can find is people with the Avic z2 or watever.

im looking to get a new setup, however, i already have a Garmin Nuvi nicely installed in the cubby, so i dont want Avic or any other audio system that has GPS because im already using the nuvi and i love how i installed people ask me all the time if it is stock.

Im looking for a nice audio system with with either a hard drive, ipod connectivity or any other way of holding mp3s as well as CDs. if it even exists, iphone connectivity would be a major plus.

i dont have a budget limit and im willing to spend the money to get something really nice but theres plenty other mods i want to do to my car so im not looking to spend a ton of money just on audio.

can you guys please recommend what i should do? any suggestions on places to go, brands, stores? any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Kenwood unit on this thread is without Nav. The New Alpine is also without nav but is double the price.

thanks some of those look interesting.... but what about units without a huge screen? i guess my main concern is how would those types of units be installed? would i need a double din kit for a unit that doesnt have a huge screen? i dont really need anything that plays DVDs etc...i just wanna get good sound and some sort of hard drive for MP3's or ipod integration.

heres a link to something like what im looking for....

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=iDA-X001

basically i wanna know how would that be installed on an 03 coupe ?

That's a nice radio, but my biggest problem with it is that its a single din unit. What will u do with the empty space besides hide it. Go with a Multiemedia Display unit thats DD. There plenty of them out there that can play Ipods and that dont have huge sceens. Check out the Pioneer FH-P800BT. It looks sick and has built in blue tooth adapter already.

Audio Upgrade..03 G Coupe

Now that we have the HU out of the way....what will u do with the Factory speakers and Amp.

I am installing the Avic Z3 and am now thinking about changing out my speakers and Amp. My question is can I just replace my factory Bose speakers with aftermarket ones while maintaing the bose amp?

If I cant keep the Bose Amp or shouldnt can I just swap the Bose Amp with an upgrade without running new cables throughtout the car? Meaning can I use the same factory connections for my new Amp?

The bose amp kinda sucks, i would say swap it out with an aftermarket one as well as chaning out the speakers. I got JL 3 piece components and a 300/2 amp and I couldn't be happier with the sound quality and the loudness.

Did u have to rewire the amp or speakers? Doesn't the factory setup for front and rear speakers originate from the Amp that is locaated in the trunk?

If you are installing an new HU, you don't have to bother with the OEM harness to get the signal to a new amp. Run RCA cables, just like you would any other car with an aftermarket HU and amp.

You may want to use the OEM speaker harness going to the front door speakers unless you don't mind running new speaker wire into the doors, which isn't the easiest thing to do correctly.
