I inquired a while back and NO ONE knew the answer and I still don't think it has been brought up. About the only thing I wanted out of the Premium package is/was the Dual Climate Control (DCC) because my wife & I can NEVER agree on the dang temp of the car. Sheesh. Let that #1 be a lesson - stay single. ha ha

When I got my "base" G coupe last week, something popped in my head and said check the display. Well, in the premium package, you have 3 temps displayed... the driver-side temp, the passenger-side temp, and the outside ambient temp. The driver and pass. temps have lines under them to you can tell who is getting their temp adjusted. Well, in MY car, there are only 2 temps shown on the display. I turned on my car AND took a bright flashlight to see if there were other LED's behind the dark turned-off display to see if other lights just weren't coming on, and the ANSWER IS NO. The Base model appears to be DCC-free, period.

This pretty much sucked for me because I was going to get a wrecked G w/premium package and get the button and chip off of the center console and upgrade my AC unit. I'm not so sure that would work now... because I don't even have a driver & passenger temp display above the clock..... so the ONLY other thing I can think of is to get another display from that same wrecked G car - one that shows both temps. Surely that would be the ONLY difference - the display and the chip right? I don't know.... but if I find out after I get my stereo put in, in a couple of weeks, I'll let everyone know. This bugs me - just when I thought I had it figured out, I see the display shows 2 temps - inside and out. Great.

I will get DCC to work dang it......... Bamadog out........

 

My guess is that the pathways for the air ducts is different too. I think I remember seeing a post regarding how it's a different model # or something with base vs. prem package.

Unfortunately that would be a HUGE pain in the butt to change out just for DCC.

Man, if they actually did something with the air ducts... which I guess in theory they'd have to if they want one side to be cooler/hotter than the other, I'll be pissed. LOL All hope just drowned.... the wife can get used to the temp that I (with a capital I) set it for. Still ain't worth paying $1400+ to get the premium package for the DCC. She can get over it. Bamadog out.......

It looks like the temp guage does NOT have a different part number.

I see that ONE part.... BUT the inside of the air ducts might be constructed differently - possibly a blockage device in the center so the driverside air doesn't mix in with the passenger-side air. Something "physical" has to keep the air separate when it's actually in Dual Zone mode. Any ideas? I'd get that stupid chip on the old AC Unit if I could... I'd also have to get the dash display too, I think.

I have been trying to find the center console circuitboard, but they are expensive - even at the junk yards.... even then, I'm not sure about the air ducts... something has to separate the 2 zones you'd think....... so I haven't looked into it much lately. I'm waiting until the prices go down a bit first... too much to pay for DCC right now. Once I find out something though, I'll definitely post here....
