OEM Headunit Weight and Dimensions
Hey guys, a quick question.
I'm wanting to calculate shipping costs for an '03 Bose headunit, and just wanted to know the weight and dimensions if anyone has a unit that they've removed handy.
I won't have time to take mine out for a couple of weeks, so this would be a great help.
TIA

My 03 Bose is 16" x 12" x 9". I don't have a scale but that "brick" is pretty heavy. The only thing I could compare it to was 20lbs and it was lighter than that but not by much. I'm guessing 12-15.

Almost 20 lbs!!!
I wouldn't have guessed more than about 7 or 8 , but I've never actually laid eyes on the thing before. With the weight I'll save, I'll be able to go faster, right?Joined: Jul 2002

For those who've never taken the head unit out before:
Took my head unit out on the W/E. Not quite as heavy as first thought.
Weight about 6lb 1oz. Unless you count the bracket which weighs almost 1.5lbs.
Dimensions of the 'brick' is 4 1/2"h x 7"w x 6 1/2"d.
The buttons and controls are attached to the dash finisher piece with the circuit board screwed behind.
A 12 conductor strip on the head unit is plugged into a slot on the circuit board and the whole thing is screwed together with the mounting bracket.

Wow, 6? I swear mine has to be heavier than that, but even the 6 cds stuck inside wouldn't make that much of a difference. Sorry my guess was so off.
My measurements were for the finisher and the radio because I thought you were sending both.

No problem. I thought you may have been measuring the finisher as I couldn't figure out how they could fit 16" behind the dash!
It seems heavier when struggling to get the thing out without scratching everything up!
