Question Question about Kenwood DNX5120 head unit

Does this particular DD nav unit require that you tap into the VSS wire?

Thanks,
James

If I am mistaken, no you do not. You just need to run the GPS antenna.

As the other person said, there is no vss wire on the 5120, just the antenna.

I have installed quite a few in the rather short time they have been on the market and I love them. There are nicer units out there, especially the Kenwood 8120, but for the price of about $550.00 you can't go wrong. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it only has two sets of RCA preouts, so if you are amplifying fronts, rears and a sub you have to split the front preouts for all 4 speakers to have a dedicated sub control. This means that any fading that you do must be done on the amplifier. This is the one advantage that the Pioneer AVIC-D3 has over the 5120, but I think the Garmin based nav on the Kenwood more than makes up for it.
