One of my buddies just called and said he wanted to trade my DVD-Burner ($200) for a subwoofer from the place he works. The setup would be one 10" audiobahn or powerbase speaker and a amp, and a box. I would keep the stock speakers and just have the amp for the sub.
What do you guys think about this setup? Is it going to sound awful, or just OK? I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on the system, but would like to improve it a little...Let me know if you guys think it might sounds OK.

If the sub is going into a properly sized enclosure and will be properly powered, you should be ok. I'm not a big fan of audiobahn and I haven't heard of powerbase. I think a lot of it depends on how much you trust your buddy.

You could always go with a powered Infinity Basslink for around the same price off ebay.
