Guys that settled for No Navigation, Show me your head unit

Hey guys, So im really trying to find a good g35 and ive gone as far as autotrader and lookign at dealerships 600 miles away and discussed shipping the car. However the lower mileage manuals that are aero package and have the right rims i can not seem to find with Navi and i dont know if i should just settle without it and put a nice big one in the dash or what. It looks hard to do and maybe spendy. If anyone has done this, tell me how you like it, if it was worth it, how much it cost, etc.

I found a car with everything i want, IP 6MT Navi, Aero Package and Brembos, but the damn thing has 71,000 miles on it already, i dont know if i can justify buying a car with 71,000 for $17,800 because of the problems i may face.

On the other hand i can find a car without Navi with 40-50,000

I really want Navi in some form, Thanks guys

if he can provide maintenance records, 71000 miles isn't that bad.. plenty of us here (myself included) have more than that much miles w/ no problems

.. and IMO.. the OEM navi just looks sick.. i'll def get the OEM ones

I dunno, the car is 500 miles away and would have to be shipped, ill ask about records. I just think it might be better in the long run for me to grab one with 40-50,000 on it w/o nav and then add a pioneer z2 or something. however i really have a soft spot for a IP 6MT with aero package

I kinda feel your pain. We looked all over the country for a DG 2006 6MT with Sports and Aero Package. When we did a nationwide search, pretty much only 15 existed. We went with a one owner.

Anyways, we looked at two from WAY out west. Was looking at shipping the car and even paid to have one inspected by the Infiniti dealer out there. However, the cost to ship, the hassle it was taking in dealing from such a far distance and not being able to physically see the car before you buy was weighing in.

We ended up between three cars within a 300 miles radius. One had Nav and the others didn't. We went with one that didn't have Nav. I'm glad we did. It really isn't a needed item. I cannot remember a time when I needed directions or needed to know where I was going.

I use Mapquest before we head out and I never look back and feel "Only if I had Nav..."

You'll be fine w/o it.

Do more research. Look at Ebay as a lot of dealers advertise there and in Autotrader.com. Two pretty good sites. Infiniti dealers are who I look at and I check their inventory regularly...

Hey here was my navigation solution: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-video-electronics/219792-nav-mp3-video-option.html

spending 500+ on a head unit and another 200 on a kit wasn't worth it for me. this solutions costed me under 200 total and very little work.

Look for a car with lower mileage IMO.

For a navigation system down the road, check out the Avic F series. It comes out next month, and it is pretty bad ***..

I agree, low mileage is more important. I went without Navi, and for 1500-2000 you can buy a sweet in dash one that probably has more functionality than the stock infiniti ones. I've googled g35 navigation a couple times and you'll see some pictures of in dash ones. They look really nice in my opinion.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with that little drawer where the stock navigation is supposed to go...

Get a car without OEM navi if it has lower miles. You can put a portable navi in the cubby hole above the radio or do a double DIN swap for the OEM radio and have built in navi. The OEM navi map update discs are also more expensive than aftermarket map updates. It's really an individual preference though because the OEM navi does have some nive features, but the screen isn't touch screen. I wouldn't let navi be a deal breaker if a car didn't have it.

go for the car with lower mileage and put in your own in dash navigation. Aside from the vehicle diagnostics, aftermarket in-dash navi's are usually better. I have an Avic D1 and I love it. I added XM+Navtraffic and I'm rarely suck in traffic in freeway traffic.
