Bose speakers missing..
Well I bought my G last week and got in the trunk for something a few days later to find that my rear deck speakers were, well.. not there. I'm trying to decide if I should try to pick up a used pair of factory speakers or go ahead and go with aftermarket. I'm pretty sure I read the stock ones are 2 Ohm so replacing them with anything else will reduce the power the new ones receive. So what should I do. If you think I should go back stock and know anyone that has a pair for sale please let me know. Thanks.
The rear decks were probably removed to vent a sub that was in the trunk. The prvious owner took the sub before selling or trading the car is my guess. Check the wiring to see if it was spliced to support an aftermarket amp. You are correct on the OEM's being 2 ohm.
Just go aftermarket unless you can find the OEM for a really good price. There are a lot of ppl that have converted, so there should be a fair number available.
Just to maintain some of the balance in sound if you go aftermarket, you probably should replace a few of the other speakers as well.

Ideally I would replace them all and go with a 4080 in the trunk but I simply don't have that much cash on hand. How much for the speakers Capitol? I just need the rear deck 6x9's. The driver side connector has been cut/spliced but the connector is still there so just need the speakers. PM me Capitol.
Ideally, yes that would be ideal...um anyways. I did that with mine and i'm pretty happy. I like having my trunk space and not **** off the neighbors. Did that when I was 17. I can do $50 shipped if you'd like?

You'll need more then the Bose amp to drive a Boston 6x9 sub. And an enclosure. http://www.bostonacoustics.com/car/c...product_id=373
I never said anything about him driving it off the factory amp Gill--c'mon now don't ya remember me from 6mt?
I'd say go for a nice 4ch amp, some good components up front (my recommendation for a good bang for the buck component would be Diamond Audio D661s), and probably some JL 6.5" subs in the back deck if you don't want to go extravagant.
I'd never looked at those boston 6x9 subs before...1000w rms? Wtf do I want with an oval sub that wants 1kw rms power? Jayzus....

If you'd like to eventually replace your system as you said, I'd just go with an amp and sub for the time being, shouldn't need to spend too much to get something that sounds good. You can pick up a cheap angled trunk box as a temporary solution for $30-40 from a local shop, then add the amp and sub. Later on you can get the 4080 enclosure and maybe some new speakers up front once you have the cash for the project.
