1st generation Sedan iPod integration
This is the setup I have been running for a while now and have been very pleased with the ease of use. I still use the stock HU and everything else so the sound is not improved.
I use a Harman Kardon Drive + Play to control the iPod. The screen is mounted in the little cubby which still closes. The control **** is mounted by the shifter and required a hole to be drilled. The wires for the screen and iPod connector are run out the back of the cubby, behind the stereo and to the area below the center console where all the control boxes and wiring are hidden.
I used the Pacific Audio Corporation AAI-NIS2 to get the sound from the HK D+P to the stereo by overiding the SAT which I didn't have anyway. This also has a remote out that allowed me to have the HK D+P only turn on when the stereo is selected as SAT.
The installation went fairly smooth but I would suggest to anyone who wants to do something similar that this will take more time than you think. There are great posts on this forum that provide detailed instructions on how to remove the stereo which needs to be done to get something like this working.

If I'm reading this right it looks like this can be done for well under $200 and is a pretty clean setup. I have not looked into any other options in quite a while, and those were well over $600. Although I noticed Nissan has some kits that work on newer models for under $400 installed - as I understand it won't work on my car though.
I would rather have control from steering wheel, but those seem to be hard to find and are much more expensive. Did you look into any other options? Any other comments or tips about your setup?
Both of those will work with your car, as will the Nissan adapter, which I have in my 03.5 sedan. The Nissan adapter will allow limited access to the songs though.
There are adapters that will work with your car but you will have to control the ipod itself and the steering wheel controls won't work.
