recommended size guage wire for jl amps
ok lets say i have a jl 300/2 and a jl 500/1
what size wire do you guys recommend for power, ground? is 4guage good enough?
also what size speaker wire you guys recommend for a 10w7? i think jl recommends 12guage, not sure... but does it really make a difference?

This is funny, our systems will be very much alike.
I've got a 500.1 amp from Precision Power driving my sub. They ran 4 guage power wire to the 500.1 amp, and 8 guage wire to my 300.4 amp.
12 Guage to the sub should be great. Everything I've read says not to over-spend in wire, unless you're going for *show*.

The minimum I would recommend would be 10 gauge for the 300/2 and 8 gauge for the 500/1. I would just get a 4 gauge kit with a distribution block and separate the power down to 2 8 gauge wires.
You could probably get away with 20 gauge for the speaker wire because it will only be a few feet long. Just to be sure, go with 16. 12 is not necessary.

Go here to figure out wire guage based on amps and distance. You can get to amps from wattage by dividing by the voltage of the car (~13 volts) i.e. 500 watts / 13 volts = 40 amps.
