Custom fit subwoofer enclosure for Alpine type R 10" close!!!
Well today i got up a bit early and had the day off, so i decided to be productive and make the sub box so i can stop making excuses to friends that there is no box and it is bad to crank it free air. So i did! Here she is, she has to dry and will be in the car in 24 hours:
It is exactly 1.3 cubic feet as the subwoofer calls for in ported, i will add the holes tomorrow, and there are fins in there that make it more difficult for the air to flow as alpine said it should be, so it is exactly down to spec down to the 1/4". IM pretty proud of the finished product, now i just have to decide what i want to do for the finish. Im afraid my fiberglassing wont be smooth enough for paint, so i might put some carpet on it... but that kinda looks tacky and cheap, so i might go for some sort of red velvet or something like that. I will also be making a glass enclosure for the amplifier with 4 PC fans (2 in 2 out) that will have some brushed glass and backlighting on it. Should look cool when i am done Enjoy:

This fin was just fro sizing and was taken out obviously

The truth is i just made the faceplate and drove with that for a semester at school then finished the box part of it today so i could see the full potential of the sub. I think im going to have a problem with the amp overheating, it is in the same spot as the stock bose one... hence the custom enclosure.

dude it's been like 6 months lol
you can get a microsuede which has some give use some super77 or helmaprene if you can get it. get a piece long and wide enough to cover the entire thing. give the face a base tack with the helmaprene let it sit for 3 mins or so. give it another light coat with the helmaprene. take your microsuede start around the sub opening and pull tight and smooth out around the entire raised area
then just smooth out the rest

I used www.selectproducts.com
Their premium or luxury carpet, whatever it is, is extremely soft. When I got mine it made me want ot sleep on it. If you're doing only the face of the enclosure, you'll be fine, but if you are wanting to wrap it around some curves and all, it's going to be tough since it has a strong latex backing and is not all that flexible. They do have other types of carpet that will work better for forming, plus they have all kinds of other stuff.
