Choice of sub

I know there are a lot of thread, but I searched and didn't find much. I just got a 4080 and I already have an Alpine MRD-M501 amp. The amp is rated

550RMS at 14.1 volts - 2 ohm
425RMS at 12.0 volts - 2 ohm
275RMS at 14,1 volts - 4 ohm
225RMS at 12.0 volts - 4 ohm

Now I know they are factory specs, so you won't get exactly that. I am looking at 3 subs. Keep in mind I want nice clean bass without it being overpowering. All 10" subs.

JL W6V2 Dual 4ohm
JL W3V3 4 ohm
JL W3V3 2 ohm (will my amp overpower this)
Alpine Type R 1042 Dual 4 ohm

Those in mind, I can afford all what would be the best combo. I think the W6 may overpower me, the W3 2 ohm I am afraid I would blow up, the W3 4 ohm, I don't think much, and the Alpine I am not sure on. Please add any input.

Thanks, and again I know there are about 90 threads on 4080's and subs.

There is a solution to overpowering bass - turn down the gain on the amp.

I would choose the JL W6V2 Dual 4ohm. That's what I have in both of my 4080 enclosures.

Ok I didn't put this out there. I could afford the W6, but how are the W3's. Would I have too much power for just one?

10w3v3 will do well with that amp!

A 10w6v2 is probably going to be over kill.

This is what I would go with
(I have a 10w6v2 in a 4080 myself)

Image Dynamics IDQ10v2

They are located in Downtown Los Angeles if you are local and they are an authorized image dynamic dealer.

Where are you located?

Othr end of the world, I live in Pennsylvania.

For the w3 route, would you recommend 2 ohm or 4 ohm?

either 2 4ohms or 1 2ohm for optimized usage of that amp

a single W3 should be able to handle 550w, unless you abuse your equipment which i assume you dont.
