Steering Wheel Interface Question

Hey folks,

I've made my decision on a dual din head unit that I want and here it is:

By choosing the Jensen VM9022, I'm forced to go with the PAC SWI-X (Universal) Steering Wheel Interface because I still want to use my steering wheel audio controls. The reason for the SWI-X is because the Jensen VM9022 does not have a wired remote port on the back of the unit. Here's a pic of the SWI-X

My question, has anyone else been forced to used the PAC SWI-X and what were and are your experiences with the SWI-X?

pretty much the only thing out there for it. I can't think of another device that does this. The only thing that sux is having to make a hole for the irda to stick through but not look bad. its a good device

There will probably be some additional delay after pushing buttons when using the X since it operates with an IR rather than direct wire. Otherwise, it should work fine.

I've never installed a SWI-X, just a SWI-JACK, but I wonder if you could make a little hole for the IR transmitter inside the head unit and hide it out of sight. You don't need to hit the IR receiver from the front, it will probably work if you can sneak the transmitter very close to the business end of the receiver.
