he is doing it correctly, he will most likely install what is called a periphreal linear inverter, which basically on one end will splice into the speaker wire for the rear speakers, the other end will have rca female plugs for the amp. Leave the factory amp in tact, there is no need to mess with it unless you want to remove to get rid of dead weight which is that because it and the speakers that it sends a signal to suck big fat donkey nads. At least in my car they do

It's not a good idea to tap into the Bose audio signal ALFTER it goed through the Bose amp (like at the speakers) because the Bose amp is where all the bad equalization happens. The Bose amp will decrease the bass as the volume increases, which is probably not what you want when adding a sub.
your installer wants to take the easy way.

As I stated in my PM to you, it is better to get the audio signal before it goes into the Bose amp, which where all of the bad equalization takes place. There are a lot of threads that recommend tapping into the audio signal before it goes into the Bose amp as being the preferred method.
IMO, I think it sounds better when I have control over the amount of bass from the audio system rather than being at the mercy of the Bose engineers when designing a stock system where the two bass drivers are 6x9's instead of a true subwoofer or two.
Also, whether the installation sounds good has a lot to do with your installation.
So tapping into the audio signal before the Bose amp will have the best potential for the best sound using the OEM HU.
