Avic Z2 / Boyo Rearcam Install Tip

Just thought I'd post this up to save someone the 1.5 hours I wasted in installing the two together..

The extension cable supplied w/ the BOYO camera runs the power/gnd/video all the way to the HU.. So to save time in stripping the insulation at the rear of the vehicle, I just tapped into the reverse signal going to the Avic Z2..

However, after much troubleshooting I found that for some reason the reverse signal voltage cannot go high when tapping off the same line.. Only reasons I can think of is that the line cannot source the appropriate amount of current -or- the fuse on the Avic Z2 wire opens when too much current is pushed through to protect the HU..

Anyways, just advising people who are doing the install to tap directly off the Vehicle reverse signal (purple wire) for the the rear cam power/gnd..

So are you saying to just run it in the back of the car? or what? If you ran it to the back, what wires did you splice/plug into?
