IPOD Install via SAT in Trunk???

I have read every g35 message board looking for a creative idea on how to direct connect an IPOD via the SAT harness in the trunk of later model Gs. I have seen many great ideas for connections to the head unit that require alot of work. I really dont wont to tear open my dash on my new car and risk any damage not to mention pay someone alot of money to do it. Since there is a way to connect a SAT radio in the trunk, I imagine there should be an easy way to use an adapter to play the IPOD thru the SAT button and connect it in the trunk. PAC and Icelink both require direct head unit connections. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or tested solutions. Thanks!

Sorry but I still didnt see anyone say it connects to the SAT harness in the trunk, please specify where you read that. The install used in this post was via the head unit.

Obviously I know more about this thatn you do! This link explicitly states that it only connects to the back of the radio.

Re: IPOD Install via SAT in Trunk???

may I ask you why you want to connect an iPod in the trunk instead of directly to the head unit?

the SAT Harness goes to the HU anyway, so unless you plan on keeping the iPod in the trunk, there is no good reason for this.

so the next question would be, why would you want your iPod in the trunk?

WHY WOULD YOU WANT YOUR IPOD IN THE TRUNK SILLY?
how about just installing the pac unit and running the wires to the trunk.... that'll work

what ever floats your boat buddy

Re: IPOD Install via SAT in Trunk???

Because its much easier to install and doesnt require tearing apart my dash board (this will cost several hundred dollars, could damage the dash and is unnecessary). Also I can do it myself. There is also no need for the ipod to be in the car since you can control everything from the steering wheel based on the way the other adapters were designed. Its called low cost, simply and smart.

Re: IPOD Install via SAT in Trunk???

Thanks for understanding....clearly others dont understand that it takes time and money to do a head unit install and it would be a breeze to hook up a pac adapter in the trunk if that would work...based on what they have said on their website i dont think the pac adapter can connect to the harness in the trunk...thats all im trying to get at...a simply answer

If you've got something like an Icelink that lets you control your ipod through your steering wheel controls, it doesn't really matter where the iPod is.

Re: IPOD Install via SAT in Trunk???

For the IPOD in the trunk.. I have some questions that you guys might know the answers to

1)What do you do about Power for the IPOD? I would hate to think that you need to take the damn thing out to recharge its batteries everytime it gets alot of use.
2)How will the Aux (Via PAC unit) allow control of the IPOD via the steering wheel controls??
3)I think I remember reading that the song/folder information would NOT be shown on the headunit, is this correct? IF it is, then it kinda seems like a half-*** solution
