car will not start

Hi
I installed "tvandnav2go" for a back up camera every thing went smooth, but the next day I couldn't start my car. No crank, battery showing 12V and the most interesting thing is that the display window for gears dosn't show what gear the car is in. All fuses ok. Tried to leave battery disconnected for 30 min and try again and nothing. You can hear the fuel pump turn on, but thats it. Thanks for any help or suggestions

Could you start it right after the install?

I just checked the camera with out turning the motor on and was o.k. but today I don't see the gear display and doesn’t want to start up. My concern is what went wrong so I can’t see it?

So with the old battery you were getting all of your accessories and lights but would not crank. Now with a new battery you're getting the same thing?

Did you test your old battery before buying a new one? I'm assuming the new one has a full charge.

Will the car even attempt to crank? After you try to start it, test the voltage of the battery.

If the battery isn't losing much power after attempting to start the car, start pulling fuses.

EDIT: Just thought of one more thing. Do automatics have the safety feature where you have to have your foot on the brake to start? You mentioned the shifter light not coming on. I've never taken an automatic apart. Are there any connections under the shifter that you might have disconnected to remove it and get to the console?

there is no crank at all and the voltage is 12v when trying to turn car over. I was thinking nuetral safety switch but nothing else was unpluged. I will try to start the car in nuetral. Pulled all fuses and all are ok.

The navigation system is near the ECU. Is it possible that you accidentally unplugged something there?

Can you walk us through your steps for installing the tvandnav2go and the camera? It might help lead to the problem.

I disassembled the dash and unplugged the connectors for a clock and red blinking sensor light. Then I did the same with the shifter console. There were four connectors which I disconnected and only one from the dashboard side. I then unplugged the navi and connected the harness from tvandnav2go. I hooked up power and ground up to the cigarette lighter. Second power, which is the blue wire, to the fuse by the driver’s side panel. Finally, two white and one green wire to the ground under steering column (the big metal bar).

I had just found out that my daughter's friend had a similar problem trying to hook up an after market alarm system thru the cigarette lighter. His car also did not start. He had initiated a computer failure.
