Is the stock headunit firmware-upgradeable?

Is it possible to reflash the firmware of the stock headunit that Infiniti puts in new G35 sedans and 2009 FX? For instance, I am very interested to enable a full range of European languages when it comes to reading MP3 disks or controlling my iPod. Current firmware replaces non-English characters with spaces, which is retarded in the year 2008, if you asked me. Even cheap MP3 players five years ago were able to display non-English characters and even sort alphabetically using them. iPod itself does it without a hiccup but Infiniti dummified their head-units in such an ugly way. They must have support for these languages in European market but why remove it from cars sold in American market? It probably costs them more money to support multiple different language packs instead of having one universal world-wide pack...

I have never read about a firmware upgrade. Infiniti just introduced mp3 jacks in the 07 sedan. They're behind the times in audio advancements.

If European mp3 characters is really important, DD is your only hope.

That's sad... There is a workaround but it is ugly. I could convert non-English names to use phonetic equivalents transcribed in English but due to iTunes design I would have to store all my tracks in such weird looking form. iTunes and iPod themselves can handle non-English characters but if I were to use my iPod in 2009 FX, I would have to put everything upside down.

Same problem exists on the new G35 sedan when I use MP3 CD with non-English labeled tracks. It can play them but the title display is effed up. This is not a big a deal on my coupe though, because it can be put in the mode when it only shows CD and track number.
