DNX8120 Questions - No video from iPhone?
I've got a couple of questions for those of you who have the Kenwood DNX8120:
1. When I hook up my iPhone via the Kenwood interface cable, I don't have the option of viewing any of the video files (movies, shows, video podcasts), however I can view all of the audio just fine. Is there anything I need to do to open up the video from my iPhone? I've seen videos on uTube of others using their iPhone on the DNX8120, but I'm stumped why I can't see them??
2. Ever since the DNX8120 went in last week (which replaced my Bose HU), the sound quality and bass response have gone noticeably even though it's still going through the Bose amp. I've tried to use the EQ and tweaks in the DNX to help, but I'm still a long way off from how it sounded. I've got some Kappa's on the way for the front doors, but can I restore the sound I had last week with the Bose HU in the meantime? (BTW - I'll also be putting in a 4ch amp + sub/amp in the next month).
Thanks!
Chad

You need to use the video-input of your HU and the only way to get video out from the iPod is to use the video-out cable seen here:
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...th_review.html
They even show what the iPhone video out cable looks like compared to the old cable used in the regular iPods.

Great, thank you for the clarification! At least I know now why it doesn't work. Supposedly (correct me if I'm wrong), normal ipods (not iPhones) will display the video files with no problem. Are there any versions of the iPod's (4Gen/5Gen/6Gen) that won't work with the Kenwood ipod cable to display video? If not, I'll probably take that route and just buy an iPod to suffice for the portable video.
And if anyone has any ideas why the audio quality dropped (with the DNX8120) and how to fix it, I'd I would greatly appreciate it!![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

The regular iPods before the 3G Nano and iPod Classic will work with video out through the headphone jack. When the 3G Nano, iPod Classic, iPhone and iPod Touch came out they didn't allow for video out through the headphone jack instead only through the dock connector.
Any iPod made prior to those versions will have video-out through the headphone jack.
