Swapping Bose amp for aftermarket
Swapping Bose amp for aftermarket
I've searched the threads for this question for hours and have not been able to find any place where this has been asked and answered:
Is it possible to swap out the Bose amp directly for an aftermarket amp (utilizing the existing power/speaker wires)?
I've got the DNX8120 installed into my car now which came with the Bose system, and I'll be putting in the Infiniti Kappa's into the doors this weekend. Shortly afterwards, I'll be putting Kappa's into the 6x9's too and I wanted to save the hassle of running new cable/wires if I didn't have too. I realize that there would be a bottleneck with the existing speaker wires, but if I could 'swap' the amps out (for either an Alpine PDX 4.150 or JL 4/450) I could determine if I the sound was sufficient before I had a shop run additional wire. I'd like to keep the rear 6"'s going too, but I haven't found a good 6 channel amp to consider yet.
As a side note, I will be having a shop run a separate amp + wire + 10" sub in the trunk next week as well so I'll have the lows covered there.
Thanks!
Chad

Read the sticky threads.
I completely removed my Bose amp and installed another amp in its place. Use the input wires going into the Bose amp for the signal and tap into the Bose amp's output wires to go to the speakers.
Many other people have done this as well.
