CD Issues

I've been having issues with my CD player on my '03 G35 coupe and it finally displayed the "CD ERR F3" message and would no longer play CDs. So I took it to the dealer this morning to get an oil change and have them look at the CD player. Apparently to get my CD player, it costs $500. The thing that really pisses me off is that when I purchased the car 5 months ago, I bought the extended warranty, and apparently my extended warranty does not cover "trim" items. So, am I getting screwed or do any of you have any advice with this?

This is covered literally hundreds of times on this forum alone. Some people have been able to cure the problem, sometimes its a temporary fix but most of the time you need to replace the radio. There is also a problem with the radio where the controls on the dash quit working, including the HVAC.

In either case, the best bet is to either buy a used, working stereo off of the forums or ebay or you can buy the dash kit and a double din unit to be rid of the stock stereo completely.

If you search you'll find a lot more information on this problem and see that hundreds of people (probably thousands) have experienced this problem. If you're lucky and your VIN falls within the required range and the work hasn't been done before the dealer should replace it for free but you'd have to check with Infiniti for that. You can call their national support line and give them your VIN and see if you qualify for any service campaigns.

The extended warranty considers the radio to be a trim piece?

That's why some extended warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on. They have so many exclusions.
