Bose Audio Worth the Upgrade?

I hear alot of people on hear complaining about the Bose system...Is it even worth getting a premium package to get this system or am I better off using the saved cash to do some sort of a small aftermarket upgrade? Has anyone heard both the 150watt Bose and the Upgraded Bose? and is there a significant difference? Thanks Guys

I would avoid the Bose upgrade unless you want to get the Premium package.

I haven't heard the base stero so I don't know what to compare it to. If you do get the bose you might want to replace the tweeters and/or place low frequency caps on the door speakers to give you a more balanced sound. At times the high's and lows aren't as balanced as I would like. But overall it is still a nice sound system.

Never heard the 150 watter, but I love my 225 watter. Overall, its a very well balanced system, as 225 is far from a "high end performance" system. Ive been debating throwing some of my old Alpine type R componenets in there but to be honest with you, volume 23 with +3 bass does all my music justice....even on the rare day I put a rap CD in. Ofcourse, I would love to throw my 1000 watts of type R 12's in the trunk....but I dunno, I think the G is more classy than to pull up to a light slamming out like crazy.

i have to agree with kahboom, overall its a really good system but some times the highs r not there. i had a bmw330 with the harmon/kardon and that also was a good system but the bass sometimes was not there, the highs where perfect. now I got the g35 and the bass is pretty good but the highs r not there. oh well u can never win ; )

The only advantage to the BOSE or Premium package as far as I'm concerned is when it comes time to trade the car or sell it. Most G's sold come with it because the G35 Coupe is considered a first-class coupe. I plan on keeping my G well after it’s paid for, so that’s not an issue.
I rather spend my money on components and equipment that sounds good to me.

Take care,

Re: Bose Audio Worth the Upgrade?

After some months I've become quite disappointed with the Bose system--I bought the car used but would not buy it on a new ride--save the money and have a nice aftermarket setup professionally installed. I currently run the sound settings at +4 Treble and -2 Base.
I am upgrading the front speakers to Boston Acoustics Pro 6.5 component speakers and installing a 10" trunk subwoofer driven by an Eclipse EA-3532 amp mounted on the back of the rear seats. The purpose is to give me some highs and lows that are currently AWOL. I'm leaving the tiny rear door midranges and the 6x9 Bose woofers to be driven by the Bose amp for rear sound fill.
As the saying goes, "No highs, no lows, must be Bose."

Re: Bose Audio Worth the Upgrade?

I used to have competition-grade systems in my other cars but didn't want to spend money on that anymore, so I figured I'd just settle for the Bose system. After a year or so I just couldn't take it anymore, so I added a subwoofer box (2 JL audio 10s) and amp (PPI art series), turned down the bass on the head unit and it sounds pretty damn good now. It's amazing what a good sub box can do for your system. Try this approach before anything else. It's the cheapest way out. Cost me about $650 installed.

Re: Bose Audio Worth the Upgrade?

OK if you like Hip hop or any bass dominated music....or anymusic in which you want clarity at lower volume

SIMPLY...... THE BOSE....BLOWS!!!
OR THE ACRONYM I HAVE SEEN AND COME TO LOVE
BOSE = BUY OTHER STEREO EQUIPMENT

No Disrespect to those that are Ok with it....but for younger more "damn that system is nice" ears...
YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY WITH IT!!!

The AMP, 6x9's (I have a coupe) and the crossover frequency of the front components, and the way the tweets are facing are the issues.

the stock BOSE speakers handle well but the amp is CRAP...puts out clean power but gives it out all F-ed up.Clarity wise. The X-over due to the capacitor is tooo damn high over 8Khz, which if you are a damn DOG you will hear clarity but for us humans its too high unless we turn it up over 20 sumthing on the stereo...

Bass is OK not HOT!!! or BOOMIN just OK.....like I said satisfactory to older (45+) or even "hey I dont need all that" kind of ears.
BUT For Rap or R&B lovers ......HELL NO!
10 inch sub is a must and an AMP to push it ..AN EQ will doctor the sound and almost cure the BOSE equalization...but IMO the HU is reall Cool

The premium package itself is a must....for the Xtra titanium trim (regular trim looks a bit bland to me..no offense)and ...stuff you get...the dual zone helps if you ride with a fussy female.....(my girl is always colder than me) and as small as it is inside the dual zone actually works.

But for the stereo upgrade you will be left saying ..."damn thats it.... thats the 225Watt system.... what a jip"
Its cool , but it aint a Lexus system....Sorry I gotta give it up to my LEX....Toyota doesn't BULLSH** with the stereo systems....neither does my boys VW Jetta.....but Nissan ...I dont know what they are smokin???

Mr. Nissan: "Hey.. Look how she performs!"
BOSE Owners: "but Mr.Nissan what about the
stereo??"
Mr. Nissan: "What stereo??"*pause* "oh that!....come on what do you want to drive fast or be a damn DJ?"
BOSE Owners: "Uh... drive.... I guess"
Mr. Nissan: "Thats what I thought.... now beat it kid!"

Lexus for my luxury and G35 Coupe for my speed. I must say...Life is not always a B!TCH
