Don't buy it. That's the simple answer.

For the longer and more detailed version, you are getting ripped off. JL is a great company, the W7 is a great sub and JL amps are quite solid, but 1,800 is beyond pricey. If you want quality, pick up a used Zapco C2K 9.0 amp for roughly 800 - 900 and buy an Aura NS 12 for about 450 and it will blow away the JL setup..Even then the 9.0 is way too much power for that sub and you could go with a 6.0 (that's if you want high end). Plus the Aura sub doesn't require much airspace.

If you want something of similar quality to the JL setup and want to spend less, look into Image Dynamics subwoofers. The IDMAX is an awesome sub and 1,000w is plenty for it. For the amp, there are a variety of choices. It just depends on the quality you want and how much you want to spend.

I just looked up pricing and whoever is selling that to you is selling at retail price. Now if they're doing the installation, including wires, etc then it's a bit better of a deal but still a horrible one. I hope you see this before you buy it, because I'd advise against it.

If you like JL, look elsewhere. But do not think it is the best or top of the line just because it's mainstream, or because the shop makes it seem like its one of the greatest subs, or just because celebrities use it. You are better off buying another sub and amp for half the price, even less actually, and having money in your pocket. I've used multiple subs and amps, more than I can count on my hands and feet and although the JL stuff is great, if you're paying that much for it, you're better off looking into something else.

jl is a good sub I got a 13w7 and a 1000/1 amp and paid $700-800 less than what you want to paid, like everyone said don't buy it. if you want jl audio be smart and shop around unless you're rich and don't care about the price then I'll sell you my set up without the box for $1700 great deal? better than $1800.

Those are Crutchfield prices.

1099 for a 1000/1, 640 for 10w7 or 840 for a 12w7

yeah you can still find 12w7 and 1000/1 for less on ebay..spend $100-$200 more for a brand new..I would put an extra for something new if the price for use and new in only $100-$200 price diffrence why not?

I wouldn't spend that much on the ID amp. I'd contact a dealer though and see what they can do. I got my zapco 9.0 for roughly around that price of the ID amp and it puts out double the power and is much more efficient.

As for the ID MAX, a great choice. I may be going with their 15, an Aura NS 15, or an oldschool, I mean 90's JL 15W6.
