Whats up guys/gals? I'm looking into getting a G35C soon, and had some questions about upgrading the stereo. I've read a lot on these boards before, so I have some basic knowledge. I went for a test drive today, and the car had the factory nav. and Bose, so we'll start there.

If I do the double-din dash upgrade, and install say an Alpine CDA-9831, what will I lose as far as the NAV goes? Are there any specific converters or anything I'll need to keep the functionality of the NAV, or should I just look into getting a G without NAV? I never thought I would use anything like that, but it just looked real handy when the salesman was showing it to me.

As for speakers, I was thinking of some Diamond Audio Hex S600s components for the fronts and rears, but would the second set go into the side rear speakers, or the rear deck? What speakers would you recommend to fill the other position?

And for a sub, I was thinking about the 10W7 even though the W7 line costs quite a bit, even online, I figured I should make it all quality to go with a quality car. I'm also thinking I'll get a shop pack of Second Skin's Damplifier for sound deadener, since I can get 150sq. ft. for less than 3 bulk packs of Dynamat Xtreme.

Anyways, sorry if these questions have been overplayed here, I'm just trying to learn as much as I can, and figured that getting answers to my specific questions would be better than searching through 18pages of threads.

Oh, and also, I listen to mostly alternative, punk, rock, and occassionally pop/rap. I like my mid's and high's to be clear, but not screaming in my ear. I have Alpine TypeR 5.25s in my current car and like the sound, but I think they could be clearer. And I almost forgot, please recommend some amps too. Price is a factor, so maybe something by JL? And if anyone knows any GREAT installers in the Southeast region of MI, or perhaps around Orlando (could visit my bro down there for a week or so, and have my car worked on ;-)), let me know.

 

So is that pretty much the general concensus around here? It is still possible to get the premium wheels & tires package without the premium package, right?

What about opinions on the speakers and suggestions for amps? Is it the rear side speakers that are 6.5in and then I know the rear deck has 6x9s, would all these speakers still be there without the Bose package? Just trying to get this all figured out ahead of time, so I'm prepared when/if I get my G.

 

So I wouldnt really be losing anything by not having the 6x9s, correct?

 

Thanks Rambo. I was only thinking about the dual climate control because my current car has it, and I know my GF was always setting her side different than mine, but then I remembered that as of recently I'm single again, and no chance of her coming back soon :-\

 

Well now here is the dilemma I'm faced with. Assuming I do get my G, I do currently have a bunch of equipment laying around that I was going to install into my current car. I have a JBL 1200.1, two Inifinity Kappa Perfect 12.1d subs, about 25ft of 2ga. power wire, 15ft. of 2ga. ground, some variety of 4ga. power and ground wire, as well as 2 distro. blocks and a 130amp circuit breaker. Would I be better off using at least one of these subs with maybe a different amp, or selling the subs to a friend, and using the JBL to power a 12w7? Heh, this all is going to be nerveracking eventually, I can tell. :-D
