Weak range on the alarm fob

Does anyone know a fix for the extremely short distance due to the weak signal for the original fob?

So far I have changed the battery and it works the same and soldered a wire on the antenna thinking it might help with the range.

Unfortunately the fob craps out at around 4 to 6 feet of the car.

It pisses me off when I cant think if i armed the car or not so have to walk back across a road just to check, extremely annoying. Does anyone have any other fixes for this?

A 2nd fob would rule out the possibility that you have a dud. If you don't have a 2nd, borrow one from another nissan/infiniti owner and program your car to it.

Do you have metallic window tint?

Hold the fob to your chin when using it to gain additional range.

Could it be the antenna?

Yes I do have another remote and I did try it... They both have the same range maybe a foot if that in difference.

Is it possible that the receiver antenna in the car might be a little loose or a bad connection?

And the car is tinted with the stock tint that comes with the brilliant silver color, so I don't think that should affect the range.

Drives me up the wall. I guess another fix would be to install a after market alarm but I rather spend the money for something different for now.

By stock tint I assume you only have the very faint greenish tint which allows 98-ish% of light through. Anything other than that was not Nissan factory tint.

Here's the receiver location on the passenger side:

Ah thats very helpful
I will pluck that unit out and see if there is anything loose and if it will fix the range a little bit i will post what I did.

And you are right it is the factory tint which allows around 96-98% of the light to come in.
