I have the factory Nav system and I get a lot of use out of it here in Phoenix. The only thing I wish i could change is the startup screen. Most cars with a Nav system (i.e. Mercedes, Acura, hell even Cadillac) have a cool start up screen with the car's logo on it. Does anyone know if this is available for G owners? Acura has a cool one, its the Acura-logo above a shot of the planet from a space view. Anyone with info on this????

 

I too agree... It does the job just fine - but let's make it exciting...

Maybe we can put a video of a G going through some twisties in the sunset... Then, the screen can fade and flash ! and we see a G do a hard J-turn....

Or something more basic....

Actually, the G does have a shot like that... I've seen it before, but only when it couldn't read the Nav disk. It was a sort of "pic of the earth from space" view. Same company that writes the software?

Ya I have seen that screen at least 4 times before oddly enough I saw that screen just yesterday.

I would rather view the map at all times. The "boot" screen is only there for like 5 seconds.

I think that "earth view" screen is actually a screen-saver that comes on after a while if idle. Not positive, but I left the ignition on once so I could listen to the radio while I worked on the car, and when I returned to the car minutes later, that was on the screen.

Nissan/Infiniti has a seperate company in Japan that makes their Nav software. I forgot the name of it but it was mentioned in some other forum.
