I;m looking for a good in-dash dvd player to hook up to my Avelectronic tv tuner, Does anyone know of a good one that plays DVD+R?

i recommend you get a mini set-top dvd player, NOT an in-dash dvd player....those are EXPENSIVE. I know that the pioneer in-dash dvd player is about $500.
You can buy a regular set-top dvd player for less than $50.

What ever DVD player you get, make sure you get one that has memory. Nothing is worse than having to stop for gas and turning off the car then coming back and having to manually search through the movie to get back to the last spot you were at.

Do you hear me?

I agree... I hate the fact my modded xBox does the same thing... its just annoying.

I know that they sell timers for 12v+ sources... They stay on for like 5,10 or even 15 mins after the ignition is turned off. A good idea if executed properly, but with a power inverter and a xBox sucking the power, I dont know if it's a good idea.

But for a regular 12v DVD player it should be just fine...

you mean just a regular home theater dvd player? I 'm scared the ride of the car might make the dvd player skip.

I've run my system for 2 hours and never got below 11.7 volts.

oh, the N1 is a navigation system, mp3 player, dvd-movie player, entertainment hub, all-in-one....its 2 grand

perhaps the cheapest route would be to directly power the dvd player from the battery, that way if the car is Off, the dvd player would still be On. And that is just fine for your battery, im sure you can keep it on for an hour (while Paused- of course- anytime you turn off the car you would Pause the movie- when you get back in you would resume.)
1 Caution though...when you turn the ignition On and Start the car...i believe that all Auxiliary power is shut-off momentarily - so be aware of that!

AHH---i dont know!

So u think it's okay to run a regular home dvd player in a car, Don't you think it will skip?

I think that if you pad the bottom of it enough (i.e. poly fill) you should be ok... Some rubber bumpers would be good too.... Test it out - Wire one temporarily for a few days. Put a comforter underneath it and drive around... At least you can test the theory...
