I did take some pics but im not sure where they are at the moment. I just used these plastic abs spacers I got off ebay as i was also concerned about the surround hitting the grill since it can move quite a bit. Once the speaker was bolted in and it was bolted to the rear deck it seemed sturdy enough. As for modification i didnt have to do anything. They fit right in, although the bottom of the magnet was hitting the bottom of the part inside the trunk that has the holes in it but this was not a problem. The only real modification was cutting the connector off the stock wiring harness so i could attach the speaker leads.

I installed two. One in each slot for each 6 x 9. Running off the stock amp they work decent. Less peaky sounding then the stockers and extension seems better. I have the bass turned down to try to balance the sound. When I turned the bass up I did get a bit of rattle from the rear which i was a bit disappointed since i did do some dampening and did not want to take the rear apart again. I really want to see what they will do once they have their own amp and I can eq them. I am figuring to run a subsonic filter around 20-25hz and I think they should have no problem getting plenty of vol.

I looked at the kickers but could not find any x max rating at all with made me a bit suspicious. The thing about infinite baffle is that it will take less power to get the speaker to move its max range. Even though the kicker can handle more power it may not actually be moving more air which is what really matters.

I guess I don't need the pictures, I can imagine what it was like. I did take apart the deck last week to make sure the install would have no surprised when I did it. I figure they're missing the x max rating because of the free-air/enclosure differences maybe?

Where did you end up dampening? I noticed there's a slight buzz right now with my box in the trunk and it sounds like it's coming from somewhere on the deck.

Anyway, I guess it doesn't matter, I'll just have to install them and see how it ends up. Thanks for everyone's input.

I actually used a thin closed cell foam on the rear deck since there were a lot of bends in the metal that make it pretty strong. I was worred about fit so i cut out areas where plastic spacers are but i should have just blanketed the whole thing. I knocked on the rear deck with my knuckles and it sounded pretty dead. I did use it on the outter skin near where the speaker was. There is a section you can unbolt so i put some sound dampening back there as it was a large flat area and sounded pretty hollow when i knocked on it. I also covered the metal piece you can unbolt with dampener. I tried to use as little as possible. Ill have to see when I eq and run a real amp to them if problems show up or not.

The physical x max shouldn't make a difference if it was free air or not. There are other parameters that can be optimized but they shouldn't effect x max so i dunno. Either way im sure its a lot more then what the stock 6 x 9s have. I just thought it odd kicker doesn't list it but oh well. Im sure it will work fine.
