bass control knob with alpine amp?
bass control **** with alpine amp?
i just recently got an alpine m850 for really cheap and would like to have a remote bass control **** (like the jl one) and cannot find any information as to how to wire one in or even where i can buy a control ****.
thanks for your help
thanks for your help
If it uses one that looks like a telephone jack then anyone should be just fine. If not, you can use one that uses RCA's. PAC sells them. If you do use a bass ****, redo your gains and set the bass **** to max before setting the gains, otherwise you can severely clip the amp and damage it as well as the sub.
thanks for your input.. i guess i'll be lookin up the control from pac.. i was trying to follow the advice of some of the local installers to go with alpine instead of the 500/1 from jl due to power draw and weight and save some cash at the same time after spending so much. spent over 2k on car related stuff and it hasn't even been 4 weeks!
I decided not to be lazy... here is the linkhttp://www.pac-audio.com/products/productsCatagory.asp?mmSearch=Amplifier%20Level%20 Controllers
I believe I had the LC-1. It's not a bass ****, it's a gain ****, which is better IMO. Rather than boosting one frequency, this acts like adjusting your gains but from the driver set. As mentioned, set it to the max and then set your gains, otherwise you will REALLY damage the amp. I almost messed up once and didn't realize I had my HU on mute and I turned the gain up all the way on the **** (my max was set halfway) and I almost unmuted it before I realized I needed to turn down the ****.
I know what you mean though about dropping a pissload of money. A few weeks ago I dropped 2k on just my amps (2 of em), still need to get 1 more so my audio setup is going to have to wait quite some time. I'd actually rather sell the amps now and get them again later on.

much thanks..
how did you wire the controller into the system? did you tap from the subout from the hu and then run a separate line back to the aftermarket amp or did you tap from the back near the stock sub and run a line to the front for the controller and then back to the amp?
i'm worried about introducing noise and delay into the signal if i tap from the back of the car since it'll be an extra 40-50 feet of wire... but at the same time i don't want to have to pull the dash and hu apart looking for the sub outs...

It was when I had my Accord. I had it from the back of the HU, I had an aftermarket one. There is a pair of RCA's for input and output. On goes to the HU, the other goes to the RCA's from the amp.
