recommendations on a budget

can i get some recommendations for one 10" and a small amp? i dont want too much power so that im replacing my battery and alternator 2 times a year. i was thinking an amp under 500w and a good 10" sub to match. i only know that basics. probably end up going with a 4080. thanks

A REAL cheap option I have done in the past is going with a Bazooka Tube, or the Infinity Bass Link is another one people have liked.

These are 8" (10" for the Infinity) self powered and real easy to hook up. Makes it real easy to have just a 4-channel amp for your main speakers and put the quality into the main speakers and amp and just add decent, but cheap bass and not over tax the cars power.

I just used one of the Passive Tubes for my old Acura set up as I had a 5-Channel Alpine that made it real quick and simple and was a snap to take in and out if I needed room in the trunk.

Granted, you will get much better bass out of other systems, it is just a question on where you would like to spend your dollars.

thats a good point, but im looking for some better quality than that. if im goin to take the time and spend some money, might as well be happy with what i have rather than be just ok with it. you know what im mean?

Not a problem. Wasn't sure if you were just upgrading with a Sub and Amp or an upgrade that included a Sub and Amp.

Cheap bass can be a little "muddy", but for a lot of applications most people can only slightly notice the difference between $300 and $600 of Bass for example. You can hear it side by side, but I have found that if you take some of the money and upgrade the main speakers, especially if stock, that the overall sound is greatly improved.

That would be a good thing to find out as well. What is your current system? I am assuming the Bose since you have the premium package and have seen many have replaced the stock speakers.

Just something to consider that may give you a little less bass, but better over all sound

i used to have a 95 thunderbird probably 6-8 years ago. i had all eclipse 5x7s with a small eclipse amp pushing them. i also had a couple small 1" tweeters on the windshield corners with high pass filters. in the trunk i had an eclipse alluminum cone 12" and a rockford amp that was 500w if i remember right. after a couple years, the alternator and/or battery was shot. thats what im trying to avoid. i may replace the stock speakers eventually, but for now, the bose is better than most stock systems and it really needs more low end. any more sub and amp combo suggestions?
